This is the third post in a series on how to prepare your dinner ahead of time. You can read the other posts below:
Post 1 – Tools you need for food prepping
Post 2 – Freezing do’s and don’ts
Today in Post 3 I’m going to share with you my favorite resources for meal prepping. There are a ton of cook books and online resources for finding recipes to use for your meal prepping. Just do a simple search for meal prepping or freezer meals and you’ll come back with a ton of results. But rather than you having to look through all that, I wanted to share with you my personal favorite resources. I still do some online looking for recipes, but these three resources are my go to for preparing my weekly meals!
My two favorite cook books:
Don’t Panic – Dinner’s in the Freezer: Great-Tasting Meals You Can Make Ahead
Don’t Panic–More Dinner’s in the Freezer: A Second Helping of Tasty Meals You Can Make Ahead
These two cook books are fantastic! Many people say to me “oh you must do a lot of casseroles since you meal prep.” Not true! There are a few casseroles in these cook books, but the majority are not! They also include breakfast foods, appetizers, soups and even breads! Every recipe I have tried has been delicious! The reason I mention these cook books is not just for the recipes, but they also include a chapter on HOW to do meal prep, and the recipes are already measured for 1 meal or multiple meals so in case you want to make 3 of the same dinners, you don’t have to figure out the recipe measurements in your head; it’s already done for you! If you are thinking of getting a new cook book, I highly recommend both of these!
The last resource that I recently came across and am loving is the 5 Dinners in 1 Hour website. Some people like to do several weeks of meal prepping at one time, but I like to cook, so I usually do my prepping once a week. 5 dinners-in-1 hour is a make ahead meal planning service. Each subscription includes simple make ahead meal plans for effortless weeknight dinners. This neat site sends you a month’s worth of recipes that can be made weekly and kept in the fridge, or can be frozen. Included is a handy dandy shopping list for each week, so you can ‘pantry shop’ and check off the items you already have! They provide a classic menu, but if you want to do clean eating or gluten-free those are menu options as well. You can check out the 5 Dinners in 1 Hour website by clicking HERE!
I hope you enjoyed this series on Meal Prepping! Check back soon for some of my favorite freezer meal recipes! If you have a favorite freezer meal recipe, feel free to share it in the comments below!

I needed to read a post like this. Perfect timing! I’m visiting you via the Texas Bloggers blog. Thanks for letting me peek into your world. XOXO, Mandi

Those cookbooks look like great resources. I’m always looking for some new things to do for dinner, especially the ones I want to do ahead of time.

I’ve been thinking that we need to start doing more meal prep as life gets more hectic, so I’m glad I came across this post! Those resources sound fantastic, definitely going to check them out now…

Meal prep does make life so much easier. We make our soup, and then freeze what we didn’t eat for later to stretch it out.
