Whirlwind trip to Oregon – Part 2

Whirlwind trip to Oregon Part 1 is HERE.

After our lovely time in Astoria, we worked our way down the coast to Tillamook, OR.

There we got to tour the Tillamook Cheese Factory, as well as have some yummy wine and cheese sampling at the Blue Heron French Cheese Company. Not only did they have amazing Brie to try, they had a wide variety of wine and other snacks. They also had a bunch of friendly animals for Jax to pet! Since it was a holiday weekend, Tillamook Cheese Factory wasn’t in full production, but we still got to see some cheese made and have some of their fantastic cheese and ice cream!

We headed further down the coast and visited our first lighthouse at Cape Meares. It was a beautiful day, but rather chilly and windy, so Jax and I didn’t go all the way down to the lighthouse.

We got hungry so decided to stop a the famous Mo’s Restaurant in Lincoln City. I remember going to Mo’s frequently as a kid when we went to the coast, so it was a must stop! We got a table fairly quickly and munched on various seafood and clam chowder. Not the best clam chowder of all, but good, and a nice view of the water.

Back in the car and off to Newport! It was getting to be evening so we checked in at the hotel and rested a bit before going to dinner at the Rogue Brewhouse! Rogue is a great brewery, and we loved walking through the brew house to get to the restaurant. We each ordered taster samples and had heavenly food to eat.

After our bellies were full, we headed back downstairs to get some souvenirs. I got a bottle of their Voodoo Daddy Maple Bacon Ale and hubby and I both got t-shirts.

Rogue Voodoo Donut Ale, see why I had to try it? The label rocks!

Plus we joined the Rogue Nation. It’s a little club which offers a newsletter, discounts and much more. Although they don’t have a brewery in our state, we can visit when we’re back in Oregon and buy online. Might have to get me some more of that yummy Voodoo beer soon!

Stay tuned for the final leg of our Oregon journey!
